Emirates ID Prices increased

The Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs and Ports Security (ICP) of the UAE has increased their Smart services fees with an additional AED100 and this includes the Emirates ID. The new prices for the Emirates ID are as follows:

What is Emirates ID?
The Emirates ID is an important identification card issued by ICP for all UAE residents and citizens. It is a personal database and must be carried with a person in the UAE at all times. The card carries an electronic chip which includes basic details of the card owner along with photo and biometric data. The Emirates ID is used in the UAE for various transactions including paying bills, fines, registering vehicles etc. You can obtain it from the ICP by filling up an application form with necessary details. Carrying the card is a legal requirement in the UAE and failing to submit it to the police as and when required could land you in trouble.
What are the uses of Emirates ID?
The Emirates ID is used:
- to avail government services
- to vote in the elections of Federal National Council
- as a travel document for UAE citizens to travel within the GCC
- as a document to pass immigration through the eGates and smart gates at several airports in the UAE.
