To live in the UAE, one of the most important documents required is the Emirates ID. Imagine losing it! Are you already panicking? Well, worry not. Thanks to ‘Fawri’, a special service by the Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs and Ports Security, you can now obtain a replacement for your lost Emirates ID in 24 hours! All it takes is some additional fee and your ID would be ready. Here is everything you need to know about Fawri:
Who can avail the Fawri service and what is its use?
If you are a UAE or GCC national residing in the UAE, you can avail the Fawri service. The service is available for all age groups and can be used to issue Emirates ID for the first time, renew expired cards or replace damaged or lost cards. Expats who are not GCC nationals can use this service to replace damaged or lost identity cards.
What to do if you your card gets lost, damaged or stolen?
In the said scenario, all you need to do is go to the nearest ICP Customer Happiness Centre and report the incident to deactivate your card. You must carry documents to prove your identity to report the case. In case your card is damaged, do not forget to bring the damaged card with you.
What are the documents to be carried to avail Fawri service?
UAE nationals must carry their original valid passport and family book which GCC nationals must bring the documents proving their residency in the UAE. Expat residents must carry their original passport stamped with valid residency permit.
Please note, if a child under 15 years of loses their ID, the parent must provide the child’s original birth certificate along with a coloured passport photo against a white background.
What are the steps to avail Fawri Service?
The steps to avail Fawri service is pretty simple.
- - Go to ICA’s Customer Happiness Centre and fill in an application form. You can also download UAE ICP app from the App store or Play store as an alternate method and request a replacement of the ID card.
- - Pay the required fees.
- - The applicant will receive a text from the ICP regarding the status of the submitted application and the expected delivery date. Usually, the ID card will be issued within 24 hours of submitting the express service application.
- - Once you receive the notification of the card availability, contact the Emirates Post to organise the receipt of the card.
How much does Fawri cost?
In order to replace a damaged or lost Emirates ID, the applicant needs to pay AED300 along with AED70 as application fee, if applying through a typing centre. The eForm or the online application costs AED40 and the express service costs an additional AED150.
