Sponsoring Your Parents to Live in Dubai – Everything You Need to Know
If you are a Dubai resident and would like to bring a parent or both your parents to live with you in the UAE, here is everything you need to know about the sponsorship.
Earlier, it was a complicated process to sponsor family especially when they have an income of their own. Presently, with the reshuffling and changes in the UAE laws, visas and sponsorship, this has become much easier. You can now bring your parent or both your parents to Dubai by being their sponsor. This is irrespective of whether they have income or not.
The rule is that the person who sponsors must earn a minimum salary of AED10,000 per month and lives in a property that has at least two bedrooms. The parent(s) to be sponsored is no longer wholly dependent on their offspring, but the sponsor must furnish documents in order to prove that they have the means to support the parent. The idea is to provide the family a comfortable stay as long as they are in the country.
The fee for sponsoring parents AED1,750, and a refundable AED5,000 must be deposited as well. The necessary documents to submit include:
- - Passport-size photograph of the parent
- - Copy of the parent's valid passport
- - Copy of the resident's Emirates ID, passport and residency page.
- - Proof of residence, such as a lease contract
- - Labour contract
- - Three months of bank statements for the resident
Applications can be made via the General Directorate of Residency and Foreigner Affairs.
